MONTREUX AREA / Canton de Vaud and surrounding areas

Home grooming 7 days a week

Equipped with my table, my scissors, my clippers and my shampoos, I am ready to take care of your four-legged friends, using animal-friendly techniques, as well as gentleness, patience and attentive listening.

Every dog is unique, and so is every situation and every grooming session. I therefore tailor every step to the dog’s needs and the owner’s wishes.

I offer personalised services adjusted to each animal and a complete grooming service for all breeds of dogs; beyond aesthetics, it is an important step for their health.

Services

Brushing / Detangling

All knots, even the smallest ones, hidden close to the dog's skin are removed using tools suited to its coat. The condition of the skin is checked and any parasites and ticks are removed.

Skin check - Ticks/parasites
The coat and skin are examined, and the owner is informed of anything that would require a visit to the vet. Any ticks and parasites are removed and an anti-parasite shampoo is used.
Cutting between the toes
This helps prevent small painful knots, accidental slips and skin infections.
Cutting claws
The claw is cut at a certain angle, taking care to avoid the inner vein. This prevents possible lameness and an uncomfortable or even painful gait.
Ear cleaning
The condition of the outer ear and ear canal is checked. Some hair is removed to prevent ear infections, for example. For breeds with floppy ears, the inside of the ears is shaved.
Eye cleaning
Any scabs or residue in the corner of the eye are removed to prevent any risk of eye infection.
Shortening of hair on the genitals
This can be done if necessary to prevent moisture and urine deposits from causing infections or itching.
Bath with natural organic shampoos
Shampoos suited to the animal's coat type (sensitive skin, puppies, white coats, coarse coats, medium-length and long coats) are used. These are organic products made with natural ingredients.
Drying
Most dogs are dried using a body dryer (a headband is placed over the dog's ears so that there’s no stress by the noise of the appliance), then a hairdryer for the head. The temperature and power are adjusted at all times for the dog's comfort.
Cutting / trimming / hair removal
Depending on the breed, coat type, location on the dog's body and condition, scissor cutting, depilation or even clipping is carried out with the owner's consent.

My approach

My approach is based on the following values: listening to the animals, respecting their comfort and well-being, gentle handling, caring grooming techniques, and availability tailored to the owner’s needs.

I have always sought contact with animals. Alongside my career in law, I have taken numerous courses that have brought me into contact with them, whether in canine and feline behaviourism, animal communication, animal anatomy and physiology, or animal massage.

After several years of putting the concepts I had learned in these different subjects into practice, it seemed to me that the profession that could bring them all together and allow me to take care of an animal as a whole was grooming.

My training in canine and feline behaviourism not only allows me to better understand the animal during grooming, but is also the opportunity to give you advice if you wish.

My goal is that the next time I visit you, your pet will remember me and be happy to see me again!

MY OTHER TRAINING COURSES

  • Behaviourism for dogs and cats
  • Manual massage for dogs, cats and small mammals
  • Animal communication
  • Animal anatomy and physiology

Why I offer home grooming services

Why I offer home grooming

There is less stress for the animals, who remain calm, comfortable and serene in their familiar environment where they feel at ease.

Your pet's well-being is at the heart
of my commitment

Your pet's well-being, at the heart of my commitment

Understanding your pet

Thanks to the knowledge I have acquired, particularly in the field of behaviourism, I am attentive to the calming signals transmitted by the animal and listen for any signs that there is discomfort. This allows me to adapt the session, prioritise the animal’s well-being and promote an approach that remains positive at all times.

Appropriate techniques

Depending on the breed, coat type and area of the dog’s body, I use scissors, plucking or even clippers, following the usual standards for each breed of dog.

Choosing shampoos

I start the bath with an organic degreasing shampoo. I then wash the dog with an organic shampoo suited to the coat type (long, medium length, short, felted, coarse, curly, white or puppy), then finish the treatment by applying an organic conditioner if necessary.

Gentleness and professionalism

In addition to the grooming techniques I have learned and the numerous training courses I have taken in the animal field, it is above all my love of animals that guides the way I approach and care for them, always with gentleness and kindness.

FAQ

I have been trained (150 hours of classes) on all types of hair, scissor cutting, hair removal and clipping.

I use organic shampoos made with premium, natural ingredients, free from parabens, phenoxyethanol, animal oils, and never tested on animals in laboratories.

Depending on the breed, coat type, and location on the dog’s body, I use scissors, plucking, or even clippers. The products are also tailored to whether the dog’s coat is long, medium length, short, felted, coarse, curly, white, or if it is a puppy.

I start by brushing and detangling the dog, then I proceed to trim the nails, clip the interdigital hair, clean the ears, trim the hair on the genitals, bathe, dry, and finally cut, pluck, or clip the hair.

It depends on the dog’s condition, age, size, grooming habits, and when it was last groomed. For example, it takes at least two hours to trim a Shih Tzu with scissors.

Short-haired dogs also have dead hair and may have tiny knots against the skin that need to be removed for comfort purposes. It must therefore be brushed, possibly detangled, their claws and ears taken care of, then bathed and dried. For hairless dogs, this involves bathing them, cutting their claws, and cleaning their ears.

Even if you think you brush your dog enough, a groomer’s tools and techniques allow them to really get to the base of the coat where knots hide and effectively take care of your dog’s claws, ears, interdigital areas, and genitals. In addition, groomers have the experience to detect any skin problems or other health concerns. They also have products that are suitable for your dog’s skin and coat.

My training as a behaviourist has given me the keys to understanding dogs body language, particularly the calming signals they give off when they feel uncomfortable in a situation. In all cases, I remain attentive to them, with a caring attitude, and I adapt to them, even if it means shortening the session or taking breaks. My goal is to prioritize their well-being and promote an approach that remains positive at all times.

You can prepare a space where I can set up my grooming table and move around it, close to a power outlet.

It depends on your dog, whether he feels more comfortable in your presence or just needs to feel that you are nearby.

I will come to your home, hotel, care home, or other institution in French-speaking Switzerland.

Yes, I am available any day (including weekends and holidays) and at any time, depending on your preferences.

I accept payments in cash or via Twint, directly after grooming.

It's said in your own words

« I’m delighted! Charlie is normally very fearful, but he remained calm and quiet throughout the whole grooming session. Melanie is very gentle with dogs and very pleasant with their owners. What more could you ask for ? »

Monica & Charlie

« César goes crazy when Mélanie comes home, and he stays close to her even after she’s finished grooming him! It’s really reassuring to see that he now enjoys being taken care of. »

Christelle & César

« My dog looks beautiful! Mélanie is patient and immediately connected with her. Since Luna was at home, she was relaxed and the grooming went very well, including for me, since I was able to continue working nearby at the same time. »
